You are about to completely change the way you view your rehabilitation. By following the advice in these 7 DVDs you will totally transform yourself. You will be able to disregard the use of a wheelchair, stick and rigid plastic orthotic, as appropriate. Amongst many other things, you will learn to get down and up from the floor, balance, walk and turn without problem, become strong and robust.. and tackle all sorts of activities of daily life that you hadn’t dreamed possible after stroke.
Importantly, Dr Tom will teach you how to recover a great deal more action control of your upper limb and achieve spasticity decline leading to grasp and release capability. Contained in these DVDs is a wealth of information relayed by Dr Tom, who has ‘been there’. A stroke survivor himself, he shows you exactly what to do to make an incredible recovery: you will not BELIEVE what can be done! You can do it: Dr Tom will show you how, and will also show you a full training session with a stroke survivor so you can see how everything works.

ARNI Director Tom Balchin describes the ARNI charity as his life’s works and passion. He says, “Stroke has driven me to get better, and it continues to drive me to make the effort to help people affected by stroke to do better.”

This article says learning is easier when related to skills someone already has.

How the brain learns new skills
The human brain is "plastic": it can adapt and rewire itself, often more easily when learning new things related to familiar skills. For example, it is probably easier for a professional tennis player...
You must take on board that results with the hand are not instantaneous, rather, you will find (as all our stroke survivors do) they are very slow and incremental. You will do better by using a combination of strategies at different times during your recovery process. But don’t make the biggest mistake of and think that you cannot progress to a very good degree with your hand using the ‘slow and steady cooking’ method, and don’t even begin with task-related work.
You will reach plateaus where you feel no new movement will occur. But this is ok… and this is the time to be creative.

remedies do work. If they didn't, we wouldn't have used them for thousands of years. And, pharmaceutical companies wouldn't be studying plants, taking extracts of them, and patenting them as drugs.this is not a claim or lies I was totally cured from fibromyalgia and chronic pain by Dr trader His remedy is surely the best. I suggest you try him out if you are having any health challenges and also get cured too, give him a try👇👇👇 www.facebook.com/profile_Dr_trader_herbal-home_261566657048963
A short video of Tom talking about ARNI. TARNI was formed in response to the demand throughout the UK from stroke survivors, who state that they are ‘stuck in limbo’ after therapy comes to an end. We train and provide specialist instructors & therapists; then guide them to you upon request. They will teach you the ARNI functional ‘retraining’ strategies and will support you to take charge of your own recovery via these principles.

My husbands physio is wonderful
The ARNI programme involves task-specific functional movement training, development of physical management strategies, stroke- specific resistance training with adjuncts such as technology and pharmacological inputs recommended as appropriate. It was borne out of Tom Balchin’s own rehab experience. He credits part of his success to an “innovative” physio who, in the early days after his stroke, taught him the importance of regaining self- reliance as quickly as possible.

To all intents and purposes, you possess a ‘use-it-or-lose-it’ brain. Function gets worse with non-use but neuroplasticity means that the finger-maps in the brain, if given the appropriate inputs, can grow and rewire in find ways to perform the lost function.

While spasticity treatment exercises may help to stretch and strengthen the muscles, the primary objective of these exercises is to activate neuroplasticity. Over time, the adaptive changes made through neuroplasticity may help spasticity subside, allowing the affected muscles to remain relaxed unless functionally contracting.
