We have ARNI where i live. Unfortunately being on benefits it's impossible for me to use them. I wish there was some kind of funding for people with financial difficulties Had stroke 15 months ago left side affected, no use in arm or hand, just about able to get about with quad stick
Question for you? What does 3-D printing and predicting if you're going to have a stroke got to do with each other? Can you guess?
Well - here's ARNI Stroke Rehab UK's prediction of the very near future: you go to have a CT scan, technicians can rapidly 3-D print your blood vessel model, test your blood response and then AI is used to predict your stroke risk years in advance.
How do we know this? Because researchers at the University of Sydney have just developed a groundbreaking new 3D printing technique that can generate anatomically accurate replicas of blood vessels in a mere two hours. That's down from 10 hours using older methods!
These amazing mini models, created using CT scans from real stroke patients, mimic actual human anatomy and the fluid dynamics of blood flow. This has already been a massive help for researchers studying exactly how the blood clots that lead to stroke form in real-time under a microscope.
The best part? This device allows scientists to trial new drugs and personalised medicine approaches without relying on animal testing.
Researcher Dr Wang, pictured, said they're not just printing blood vessels, 'we're printing hope for millions at risk of stroke worldwide. This tech is paving the way for better prevention, early diagnosis, and more effective, tailo#ARNIstrokerehab💖#strokesurvivorm#3dprintingk#MedicalBreakthrougho#HopeForFuture##strokeresearcho#scienceandrecovery##innovationrch #ScienceAndRecovery #Innovation

This would help strengthen shoulders too? And hands and wrists?
Do similar with Rack Hold with Kettlebells. Goal is Snatch and Clean and jerk
I'm so disappointed. I was all set to book a session with my local ARNI physio, to help with my stroke recovery but my doctors won't sign the consent form.it didn't even get past the receptionist. I've been in and complained but they still won't sign. I'm gutted!!
Nice one ARNI Stroke Rehab & Recovery . Sometimes, my clients don't have so strong wrist extensors so a kettlebell was the solution - the ball of the kettlebell resting on top of the wrist allows for lateral raises as well as helps the actual wrist extension👌
Awesome!
This my ultimate goal 🙏🏽
I'll have to get some weights and give it a try🤞

Fortunately, thanks to the brain’s natural neuroplasticity, it is possible to regain some muscle strength and function after stroke. Passive range-of-motion exercises can help activate the brain but the key addition is also to engage in regular and intensive training/therapy and be facilitated to self-rehab as much as possible/become as independent as possible.
This pic shows David Francis Neurological rehabilitation Wales - NRW and Mariola Piskarkiewicz 'guiding and guarding' an ARNI patient. With enough hard work, with what Tom calls, some 'oomph', you can definitely begin to see progress in your stroke recovery.

I would definitely like some more Physio
Big news for many of us coping with post-stroke pain 👋 Researchers have made a remarkable discovery about how post-stroke pain signals are activated. They found that certain neurons actually release an enzyme called VLK (Vertebrate Lonesome Kinase) from outside the cell. The really exciting part is this: in lab studies, removing or blocking this specific enzyme was shown to effectively dull post-stroke pain without impairing normal movement or sensation! 😮
It turns out this enzyme plays a crucial role in activating the pain signals that many stroke survivors unfortunately experience. This is huge because a major challenge with current pain medications is that they often come with significant side effects, including grogginess or reduced mobility. The potential to target the VLK enzyme specifically offers a new pathway for pain relief that could improve our quality of life dramatically without these drawbacks.
ARNI Stroke Rehab UK says that this research points towards a future with more effective, targeted pain management options for stroke survivors without the horrible side-effects which most drugs have. It’s a wonderful example of science leading the way to better recovery outcome 🙏💖

Upper limb impairment is a common and persistent consequence of stroke, significantly affecting an individual’s independence and quality of life. The evidence shows clearly that the cornerstone of effective motor recovery is task-specific practice, a principle underpinned by evidence from neuroscience and motor learning theory. This approach posits that the brain re-organises itself in response to intensive and repetitive functional training, fostering neuroplasticity.
In the private and home rehabilitation settings, stroke survivors can engage in task-specific practice very easily by themselves or with the help of an ARNI Stroke Rehab UK trainer or physio. The rationale is that by repeatedly and intensively practicing meaningful, real-world activities, from lifting a cup to getting dressed, the brain reorganises neural pathways, improving the control over motor functions relevant to those specific tasks.
This approach moves beyond general exercises to focus directly on the functional skills that enhance independence, motivating patients through visible, goal-oriented progress.

Meet David Turner, a stroke survivor from Cuckfield, who lives close to the ARNI base in Lingfield, Surrey. After his stroke, David couldn't talk for two months 😥. But he found an incredible path back to communication: singing! He joined a local singing group in Cuckfield which is specifically designed for stroke survivors (Melodic Intonation Therapy). And he's found that now he simply cannot stop singing! 🎤😂
Has anyone on ARNI Stroke Rehab & Recovery page done the same thing?? Please let us know! This is a powerful example of neuroplasticity at its finest; singing uses different parts of the brain than speaking, and for many survivors, it can compliment speech therapy.
The joy, community, and therapeutic benefits of joining a group like this are immense. It also helps with breath control, rhythm, muscle coordination and boosts confidence and mental well-being. Good stuff David! 🌟

You have to stretch your upper limb (gently), knowing at the same time simply stretching won’t bring recovery. You have to be task-focused. So, when you do a stretch, you then do something challenging and specific functionally with the stretch. For example, stretch, then try to pick a hairbrush up and put it into a cupboard.
