This article says if you want to learn and change your brain as an adult, there has to be a high level of focus and engagement. Then to cement those gains, your brain needs to release another chemical called acetylcholine. And to get it to do that, you need to give it a real rest. "A lot of the changes in these brain structures occur after learning during deep sleep.

A Stanford Neuroscientist Reveals the Brutal Truth About Learning as an Adult
www.inc.com
Your brain isn't wired to learn new skills as an adult, but you can force it to using this two-step process.
Hey everyone! 👋 Did you know that the best way to have only a tiny 4% chance of experiencing a stroke is to walk continuously for 10 to 15 minutes a few times a day? 😮That’s incredible, right? It just goes to show the power of consistent physical activity...
On the flip side, those who only managed shorter, five-minute walks faced a much higher 13 per cent risk 😥. That's a significant difference for just a few extra minutes of movement!
Researchers from the University of Sydney and Universidad Europea conducted a fascinating study about how walking duration affects our stroke risk and the findings are quite eye-opening. This really drives home the message that consistency and duration matter, even if it's just a little more each day.
It's not about being super athletes; it’s about incorporating that sustained movement into our lives. Let's use this as motivation to aim for those slightly longer walks whenever we can! Every extra step helps in our recovery and prevention journey! 💪🚶♀️🚶♂️

Going onto my treadmill right now. Going to create a daily walking habits doing this especially in the he winter months when outside isn't as good an option. I invested in a walking treadmill ❤️🩹🧑🏻🦯
Remember! A wider stance creates a more stable base while a narrower stance requires more balance.

Whenever I bend down I try to put more weight into my left side, if I don't then I find my left knee isn't bending as much
A recent story out of the UK has brought the crisis in the NHS and social care sector into sharp focus, and it’s truly heartbreaking. It involves Tony Reedman, who sadly died just four days after suffering a stroke while on holiday in Cornwall, after waiting for several hours for an ambulance at his holiday cottage💔.
A two-day inquest into his death has just heard that on the day he died last June more than 20 ambulances had been queuing outside the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske in Truro, unable to discharge their patients because of a lack of social care packages available so bed-blocking patients could leave.
ARNI Stroke Rehab UK says that this isn’t just about one tragic case; it’s a glaring spotlight on the critical pressures facing our health services every single day. For us, every second counts when a stroke happens – we know the mantra 'time is brain' better than anyone else! 🧠⚡ When systems are overstretched, underfunded and understaffed, it's we who pay the highest price 😢.

Very sorry to read this. I live in Cornwall. One main hospital only. The after care doesn't exist, i was lucky that my Brain stem stroke in 2020 at 52yo didn't affect me other than physical and so i researched for myself and also had money aside after working hard for 35years to spend on private physio. With stroke still only cat 2 for an ambulance i feel we will always be seen as not life threatening ? but as we know life changing, and so accepted that we will have to wait, crazy.
Fatigue is a common effect after stroke that can make life 'challenging'. To help manage it, and still be able to do your rehab exercises, start small and find the right balance of activity and rest that your brain can handle.

Do have a look at the latest findings from my pal Dr Anna Kuppuswamy: she is absolutely correct in that if we mentioned it as overload it is not only inaccurate but also not very helpful from a treatment perspective. I would say attentional allocation is incorrect, as a result it appears as if there is sensory overload. Anyways, lots more to understand and hopefully the continued work of her, Dr Leisle Ezekiel, Prof Avril Drummond and many others in the UK in this area will uncover more... biologicalsciences.leeds.ac.uk/biological-sciences/news/article/547/more-than-tiredness-what-s-re...
It’s two years since my strokes, i had three strokes in all, I feel weak, tired and exhausted all the time.
After 6 years, haemorrhagic stroke, I am unable to work. Still needing a daytime sleep for an hour. No matter what we are doing even if I have guests. I need to recover. Sleep
I had my stroke 30 years ago ago and have fatigue all the time
Thank you very much for this. I’m feeling less gung- ho than yesterday, but yesterday I had a lot of rage energy. Today, is the type of day that I need to remember to do it for the tomorrows and try and let go of what I can’t control and have a lot more grace as other stroke people on support groups seem to 😊
Since the strokes I have had I find even if I sit and watch a television show I usually fall asleep or even if I’m crocheting something boom I nod off so quickly.
I can only do so much then I have to rest.
I luv sleeping
My fatigue is just awful. Not sure my family understands.
It's hard 😪
Start small, that's good advice

The fatigue is still there after 9 year .....the need of having to stop take a rest.....then carry on. Xxx
I totally feel this way and no matter what I do I never fell completely well rested . The last time I slept great was in my coma !
people dont think you can be tired just when you goy up
I just get a lot of itching down my left side
Never goes away, mentally tiring walking because of extra concentration
oh wow
I don’t have fatigue as much as I had at the beginning but I still am always tired and nap 3-5 times a day
Doesn’t go away
How long will the fatigue last for i still feel this way after 4 years.
Still very much struggling with this after stroke in July 24. 😢
Yep fatigue of the scale- l sit down to watch football ,l miss most of match used to laugh about it .but now l eat ,stand -its the only way.
It's s new lifestyle but we will progress
"We are in the early stages of a Brain Plasticity Revolution. That revolution begins with a clearer understanding that the brain’s machinery is being continually rewired and functionally revised , substantially under your control, throughout the course of your natural life. You have a remarkable built-in ability to strengthen and grow the person that you are, at any age.

Goals need to be a mix of highly achievable and reasonable, with a few unlikely ones thrown in which you are still going to strive for and do your best at achieving. The reason for that is that in striving for the seemingly unachievable, by default, stroke survivors will almost always achieve the achievable.
