'I’m not just a stroke patient anymore'.

The participants felt that they had to do it for themselves with tapered support from the professional team. Research indicates that home-based stroke rehabilitation programmes like the ARNI intervention can be effective and potentially more beneficial than traditional hospital-based rehabilitation for some stroke survivors, particularly those with mild to moderate disability.
These programmes often involve a team of physios and trainers, and they can be designed to improve function, reduce disability, and enhance quality of life.
A well known finding is that rehabilitation for stroke can be powerful enough that it can be offered in any setting without sophisticated equipment or technology.
But did you know that WITHOUT at least some kind of supervision and better, regular home retraining to deliver adequate dosages of retraining, only ≈1 of 3 of people with stroke will be able to follow or benefit from a home rehabilitation programme that's just written down or given to the survivor?

Neuroplasticity is the mechanism that the brain uses to rewire itself and form new connections. Each time a meaningful task is practiced, those pathways are reinforced and become stronger.
As pathways begin to reform and strengthen, it improves the communication between the brain and body.
Gradually, impairments on the affected side begin to improve because the brain is able to send signals again. The more you practice, the stronger those skills become.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has played a more critical role in neurological rehabilitation for decades. Have you come across it??Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) have become essential elements of AI-assisted rehabilitation based on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) algorithms. AI-assisted rehabilitation offers personalization, real-time feedback, improved accessibility, data-driven insights and cost efficiency better than conventional methods with comparable or even better outcomes.
There are still some challenges that need to be addressed in using AI for motor rehabilitation of post-stroke patients. Based on the results of this review (see poster and the link), which assessed the combination of the use of robotic devices and the use of AI, mainly to provide adaptive feedback to the rehabilitation program, it is still insufficient because it has not shown significant improvement in the group using this therapy modality. However, the effect is non-inferior when compared to conventional therapy.
The Highlights:
*AI-assisted stroke rehabilitation shows promising outcomes in terms of functional and motoric outcomes.
*AI-assisted stroke rehabilitation is more feasible, personalized, cost-effective than the conventional method.
*A combination of VR and rehabilitation robots give the best result.

* The widely accepted guideline for AI-assisted rehabilitation
has not been agreed upon.
