we are trying to identify neural correlates of fatigue or tiredness in stroke patients.

Here's a GREAT side-effect for people using O zempic! ๐ง A major study just published in The Lancet has found that weight-loss jabs, specifically semaglutide, can significantly reduce the risk of a stroke. AFTER STROKE: IMPROVING STANDING & WALKING BALANCE - Itโs completely normal to feel worried or scared about carrying out any balance exercise. They are challenging and all retraining away from a seated position carries a risk of falling.
But itโs vital to continually extend your boundaries whilst minimising the risk to your safety. And itโs equally vital that you ask your therapist or specialist trainer how to do this.

One of the exercises in the Successful Stroke Survivor Book is called Baggy Trousers and its to get your arms swinging when you walk. Remember the song Baggy Trousers by Madness? Hywel Dda Health Board's proposals to downgrade Bronglais Hospital's stroke service to a 'treat and transfer' unit are causing great concern. ๐ Some argue this change could increase health inequalities across Wales, especially affecting patients in rural areas like Ceredigion, Powys, and South Meirionnydd.
๐ For stroke patients, we know every minute counts โณ A treat and transfer model could mean longer, riskier journeys to larger hospitals in places like Llanelli or Haverfordwest for specialist treatment. Longer travel times delay vital care, potentially leading to worse outcomes for patients who need immediate intervention.
This move could also mean that families face significant travel distances, making it harder to provide crucial support during a patient's recovery. A debate on this very issue was recently brought to the Senedd, highlighting the strong opposition and the community's desire to see Bronglais's services protected and invested in, not downgraded.

We had just moved to Mid Wales when my Husband suffered his stroke. It was a major stroke and no ambulances were available. I was told to get him in the car and take him to Bronglais, the only hospital in our area but still an hours drive. With the help of a kind neighbour he got to Bronglais in time to be thrombolysed, unfortunately this was not successful and that day both our lives changed for ever. The care received at Bronglais was second to none and I was able to visit every day. If my Husband had to be sent over two hours away for treatment I would have rarely been able to visit him and I believe this would have impacted greatly on his rehabilitation. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area but it is not somewhere to be living if you are in ill health.
There is practically nothing for stroke victims these days, we are just left at home to disapear and die.
